New League. New Format

OOOOOOOOO doggy! It’s league time.

Can you imagine the players of Welcome to Blockbuster boarding up their hearts, checking to be sure their brain cannons are loaded, taking inventory of their Space Whistle crowlers. These are the same questions every team needs to be asking themselves: Is this a team we can win with? Are we ready for this fight? You ever look at a growler of craft beer and think, “I would like to shotgun that”?

It might be more important than ever to talk about these issues with your team, because this is a whole new realm for Wisconsin’s Hardest Trivia. We have no idea when we’re going to be back to regular shows at public spaces, but we certainly aren’t about to stop pretending we get to hang out with all of you once a week. And to make that happen we’re making these changes.

Of course, the last place team will get to select a category for the following week’s show. That team is also welcome to have someone join the hosts to present it.  But more importantly, each week we’ll be presenting prizes for the top three spots. First place will get a $100 gift card to Company Brewing or Glass Nickel Pizza. Second place will get a $50 gift card to either of those places. And you’re playing from somewhere that isn’t Milwaukee or Madison, we’ll work with you to promote a local food and drink joint near you.

The third place prize will be free entry into the next week’s show. Right about now is when you might be asking “Wisconsin’s Hardest Greggers, what the hell do you mean ‘Free Entry’”.

That’s a totally legit question that provides a great segue into the new registration plan. It now works like this.

  1. Playing Wisconsin’s Hardest Trivia will be $10/player or $50/team of six players. Teams can still play with more than six players, but will be docked 10 points for each additional player.
  2. Be sure your teammates know your team name before the game starts. We are moving to a Zoom-centric platform and this will allow us to put you on the right team. Or if you want to sabotage another team, say Spoony Bards, and 20 people sign up as members of Spoony Bards, that is certainly going to tank their score. That’s how street justice works in Zoom.
  3. Once your team has registered, you’ll get the password to the Zoomiary.
  4. Finally, we’re trying to keep this as open as possible for players. If for any reason this new pay structure keeps you from playing, drop an email on Nick@wisconsinshardesttrivia.com, Anjali@wisconsinshardesttrivia.com or Greg@wisconsinshardesttrivia.com and we’ll get you in the mix.

We’ll be streamlining the whole process over the next few weeks, but for now we’re using the old method of dropping registration fees on paypal.me/SlashGreg

See you all on Wednesday night.
