Finals Week!

Welcome to the interyulian days. These days that see us lumber from the Solstice to New Year’s Day. Heavy in the belly with feast after feast, and in the heart with the weight of long nights and another year passing during which the words to Auld Lang Syne have not been learned nor considered.

Each year we do this. We look back. Celebrating what was new and remembering what was lost. I think about how hard that must be for a team like OG Neal of Fortune. Certainly Alex has a version of Auld Lang Syne by King Crimson or some other band that existed long before she did, and she had to think about that one line, she knows, the only line any of us know, “Should old acquaintance be forgot, I only drink boxed wine. I use cocaine in crack rock form. It’s cute that you do lines”.

But in this case the old acquaintance is trivia wins. The rest is just proof that Robert Burns was basically an 18th century Keith Richards.

On the flip side, we’ve got We Didn’t Start the Fires and Bienvenidos 2 Blockbuster celebrating the good times and how they dominated the year in trivia 2020. Imagine it, 50 years from now. some kid rolls up on a legit floating skateboard, “Hey Sarina, tell me about the year 2020.”

And Sarina leans back in a throne made of gift cards, “Ahhhh yes. The year we topped all those fools over and over and over playing trivia. We brought in a couple ringers from the t.A.T.u. message boards and smoked the rest of teams the way Robert Burns did with crack in the 1780s. Also Donald Trump was on some wild rants. I didn’t step outside for 16 months and like a half a million Americans died of SARS-2. But the new Land Rover Defender was released in the US market and that thing was a beast.”

What I’m saying is that the trivia finals are this week, it’s pretty much between Welcome to Blockbuster and We Didn’t Start the Fires. And WDStF, I really need you guys to pull this off, because I can’t handle another season of Wisconsin’s Hardest Nick suggesting all the Madison teams start playing Wisconsin’s Second, Maybe Even Third, Hardest Trivia.

To see how it all shakes out, get in line for some prizes and see how it all shakes out, be sure you’re ready to play Wednesday night at 7pm central time. Registration works like this:

  1. The Wisconsin’s Hardest Trivia entrance fee is $10/player, or $50/team of six players. Teams can still play with more than six players, but will be docked 10 points for each additional player. Drop your payments on paypal.me/SlashGreg.
  2. Once your team has registered, you’ll get the password to the Zoomiary.
  3. Be sure your teammates know your team name before the game starts, this will allow us to put you on the right team.
  4. Finally, if you have any questions, drop an email on Nick@wisconsinshardesttrivia.com, Anjali@wisconsinshardesttrivia.com or Greg@wisconsinshardesttrivia.com and we’ll get you in the mix.
